Etsy Holiday Promotion Guide
TL;DR Summary - Etsy Holiday Promotion Guide

Understand your profit margin so that you know what sales you can realistically run. Calculate costs carefully to determine discount limits. For more details, refer to the pricing course.

For holiday sales, a few things to keep in mind to create an irresistible offer:

  • Offer higher discounts than usual
  • Start sales early (Monday before Black Friday)
  • Use tiered discounts or bundles to encourage larger orders

To make sure your sales are effective, do these before the sales season (about 1-2 months prior):

  • Optimise listings (photos, titles, tags)
  • Include promotional inserts in orders
  • Prepare answers for common questions like shipping cutoff dates
  • Send products to micro-influencers

Leverage customer psychology to boost sales. Here are a few examples but go to the full course - Psychology Principles For Etsy Sellers - for more strategies:

  • Use FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
  • Create urgency
  • Offer exclusivity
  • Showcase social proof

Here are the 3 main marketing strategies I use:

  • Email Marketing: Send a sequence of targeted emails. Go to chapter 7 to get my Black Friday email sequence template.
  • Social Media: Focus on platforms where you're most successful. Don’t spread yourself too thin.
  • Etsy Ads: Run ads on your bestselling products, but keep in mind they are more competitive and expensive during the sales period.

Additional Strategies For Holiday Promotion:

  • Offer gift wrapping
  • Release new products during the sale
  • Have contingency plans for selling out or supply delays
  • Communicate potential shipping delays to customers
